So here are a few of them (view from our back patio &#8211; known as a portal in these parts of the country).<\/p>\n<p>The wind has kicked up since, but I expect to be able to sit out back tonight &#8211; inspired by Lew Bryson&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/lewbryson.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/session-8-beer-food-part-3.html\">barbecue adventures of yesterday<\/a> &#8211; eating properly <em>smoked<\/em> (trust me, Lew, it will be smokey) Texas-style &#8216;cue and drinking Flying Dog Dogtoberfest.<\/p>\n<p>Fact is, though, thoughts about the beer will be <em>way<\/em> in the background. We&#8217;ll talk about the Illinois and Northwestern football games and monitor the progress of the Chicago Cubs.<\/p>\n<p>New Beer Rule #5 will be in full effect: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/appellationbeer.com\/blog\/new-beer-rule-5-it-is-only-beer\/\">It is only beer<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But if you need some serious beer talk there are worthy discussions going on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First,<\/strong> Jay Brooks&#8217; wrapup on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brookstonbeerbulletin.com\/the-ethical-blogging-debate\/\">beer bloggin&#8217; brewhaha<\/a> (it&#8217;s about ethics, but that would have screwed up my alliteration).<\/p>\n<p>Pair that with the <em>Wall Street Journal&#8217;s<\/em> story about <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB119162341176250617.html?mod=home_we_banner_left\">food blogs and free meals<\/a>. Connect the dots.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second,<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/beerblog.genx40.com\/archives\/2007\/october\/stonchron\">Alan McLeod wraps<\/a> up a m&eacute;nage &agrave; trois involving Ron Pattinson, Garrett Oliver and the Beer Advocate community (so it is a lot more than <em>trois<\/em>, plus Stonch was in there). I was already planning on pointing you to Ron&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/barclayperkins.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/style-evolution.html\">original post<\/a>, but much more fun broke out in the meantime.<\/p>\n<p>Great stuff.
