Gone to hazies everyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting dispatch from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brewsnews.com.au\/2020\/08\/12\/brewer-forecasts-death-of-bitter-beers-after-ipa-competition\/\">Brews News<\/a> in Australia begins, \u201cOne of New Zealand\u2019s leading brewers forecasts the &#8216;destruction&#8217; of bitter beers\u201d after judging the Malthouse West Coast IPA Challenge in Wellington.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Ryan, head brewer at Fork Brewing and a World Beer Cup judge, has a lot to say.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We don\u2019t have many beer drinkers with a knowledge of bitterness anymore because there are so many beers out there that are not bitter.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve entered a whole new realm of brewing \u2013 I say it jokingly but in 10 years\u2019 time if we keep going like this there will only be lagers, the odd pilsner and the rest will be hazies, fruit beers and pastry stouts. That\u2019s what people want.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Luke Nicholas of Epic Brewing, also a World Beer Cup judge, agrees. \u201cSo many entries were distant from style because so many lacked hops.
