To his credit, Jeff Alworth, points out that we live in little silos. Dilly Dilly has not made its way into mine. This does not bother me.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/appellationbeer.com\/images\/20171204-mountangel.jpg\" width=\"610\" height=\"333\" alt=\"Mount Angel Abbey brewing equipment\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I am, however, perfectly delighted to talk about construction of a brewery at Mount Angel Abbey in Oregon. Jeff Alworth, again that guy, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beervanablog.com\/beervana\/2017\/11\/25\/a-monastic-abbey-rises\">plenty of history and new details<\/a>. One point of order. The brewery tanks (pictured above) haven&#8217;t just started arriving. They&#8217;ve been sitting a short walk down the hall from where Father Martin brews for almost three years; monastic patience on display.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; New Orleans and Dixie beer. <a href=\"http:\/\/goodbeerhunting.com\/sightlines\/2017\/11\/29\/brewhouse-of-the-rising-son-tom-benson-reconstructs-a-monument-in-the-age-of-craft-iconoclasts\">A complicated relationship<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; An interesting question that <a href=\"http:\/\/abetterbeerblog427.com\/2017\/12\/02\/beer-and-ale-as-part-of-elizabethan-naval-victuling\/\">looks back to the 1500s<\/a> and brewing on ships. \u201cWhich makes me wonder if there were ale brewers on board before a certain point, preparing fresh ale for consumption by the crew within days \u2013 like might be found on farms and estates or in contemporary brew houses.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedrinksbusiness.com\/2017\/11\/hops-falling-out-of-favour-in-craft-beer-industry-as-brewers-look-to-barley\/\">Silly suggestion of the week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; And here\u2019s one more reason to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegram.com\/news\/20171114\/traffic-concerns-brewing-on-rt-20-near-tree-house-in-charlton\">complain about NEIPAs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>GLASSWARE<\/h5>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meininger.de\/en\/wine-business-international\/calling-time-champagne-flute\">Down with the champagne flute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winemag.com\/2017\/11\/27\/champagne-flute\/\">All hail the champagne flute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>WINE<\/h5>\n<p>&#8211; Wine, not beer, but lessons about <a href=\"https:\/\/fermentationwineblog.com\/2017\/11\/13-years-learning-wine-blogging\/\">blogging in the drinks space<\/a> are relevant.  \u201c5.
