Be sure to read the <a href=\"http:\/\/maltworms.blogspot.com\/2013\/12\/on-beer-writing.html?showComment=1388398195372&#038;m=1#c2599088807648829775\">comments from Pete Brown<\/a> and others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavourjournal.com\/content\/pdf\/2044-7248-2-29.pdf\"><strong>Looking for crossmodal correspondences between classical music and fine wine.<\/strong><\/a> &#8220;Tchaikovsky\u2019s String Quartet No 1 in D major turned out to be a very good match for the Ch\u00e2teau Margaux 2004 (red wine). Meanwhile, Mozart\u2019s Flute Quartet in D major, K285 was found to be a good match for the Pouilly Fum\u00e9 (white wine).&#8221; When will <em>Flavour<\/em> publish a similar study involving beer?<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/m.voanews.com\/a\/1816667.html\"><strong>South Africans Search for Flavor in Their Beer.<\/strong><\/a> Nothing wrong that South African hops get no mention, but I&#8217;ve had some excellent beers this year made with varieties bred on the SAB Hop Farms. They are available to smaller breweries, giving them what seems like an excellent opportunity to create &#8220;indigenous&#8221; beers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/slovenian-beer-turns-sour-state-072730380.html\"><strong>Slovenian beer turns sour as state fire sale looms.<\/strong><\/a> Not that Lasko is a great beer, but this is a sad story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.philly.com\/2013-12-27\/news\/45596231_1_philly-beer-week-best-beer-craft-brewers\"><strong>Joe Sixpack&#8217;s beer highlights of 2013.<\/strong><\/a> I&#8217;m not a fan of lists, but will make an exception for Don Russell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8211; On beer writing.
