Where in the beer world?

We’ll see in the next few weeks if it is a good idea to revive “Where in the beer world?” Or if it turns into “Where in the hops world?” (Obviously not a problem this week.)

If you think you know where this photo was taken leave your answer as a comment. Of course, other comments remain welcome.

  1. Wish I could see an enlargement of the mirror’s reflection — did you make it up to Chicago Stan? Maybe Schuba’s Tavern for some local music?

  2. Steve – In fact, when I cropped the photo I left in all of the Rock Around the Clock poster than a could. It is vintage. And that’s a clue.

  3. Not in Ohio and predates the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Another hint: as well as walls covered with memorabilia known for its darts lanes.

  4. Good job, Chris. They are mourning the fact they can no longer get O’Fallon 5 Day IPA, but Boulevard Single Wide is an excellent replacement.

  5. I like the 5-Day, and I guess it’s more local, but I’d say the Single Wide is a step up.

Great burgers in that joint. Especially with that weird soft cheddar spread.

And Chuck Berry still playing there once a month. Incredible.

Let’s not forget Cicero’s across the street. Solid beer list and Ground Zero of the Uncle Tupelo days.

  6. Joe – Not sure if O’Fallon’s is going to be saved or not. Of course we went for the burgers, and to show Sierra the walls.

As well as Cicero’s a couple of blocks one way you’ve now got Pi a few blocks the other way. Right across from the Pageant. Going to be interesting to see if all these places make room on their taps for the flood of new breweries.

  7. Weird soft cheddar spread?

Couple places in Chicago area (including my own Weber) where they use Merkt’s brand cheese spread (and it’s real cheese, not processed cheese food) on their burgers — tasty stuff.
