What does Miller Lite taste like?
This was just too funny, and the timing is too good, not to point you to.
SevenPack.net offers a most amusing review of Miller Lite. Only in part (because you should go read the rest):
It smells of a skunk that fell in a pile of hops and tried to clean up using my roommate’s Juicy Green Apple shampoo.
J (the reviewer) was moved to write the review after seeing the Miller commercial where workers raise the banner Miller Lite won in the World Beer Cup. And it comes at a time when Miller is rolling out a new series of commercials that “focus on the taste and heritage of its flagship brand.”
J’s view: “To me that’s like someone proudly hanging a new Embezzler of the Year plaque in their office. Cheers to being the best at what you do, Miller Lite. Too bad what you do borders on criminal.”
OK, that’s funny. But – in my role as Mr. Dour, pointing out we drink in a niche most of the world doesn’t visit – the fact is that people are influenced by the awards because they care about the taste of what they are drinking. A lot of people like light beer.
Do the math. This year light beer sales will grow more than craft beers sales. Even on a percentage basis; on an absolute basis it is totally overwhelming.
You’re not going to see Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Stoudt’s Brewing or the Uinta Brewing Co. advertising hoisting banners on commercials any time soon. It’s up to us to talk about these beers. To return to an idea posted 10 days ago, a perhaps to become my theme for the year: How about we all resolve to help at least one friend overcome a similar fear of complex beer?

So what beer would you suggest to have a Miller Lite drinker try?

Sorry not to have a stock answer, but it really depends on the person.
Could be an English brown ale – on the sweet side, not too much hops, but the darker color lets the drinker know he or she is drinking something different.
I have a friend who went from Coors Light to Michelob Amber Bock to Samuel Adams Cream Stout (but not to have more than one). He’s drinking on a budget, so considers Samuel Adams Light a splurge.

Mahr’s Leicht
Or a locally brewed Helles. Support your local breweries and brewpubs.
Cheers!
