Things I thought I’d never see

Lefthand Beer TruckOr maybe it is Things I never thought I’d see . . .

Anyway, more than 14 years ago our daughter, Sierra, not yet a year old, matched her hand up against a sticker in the brewery at Left Hand Brewing in Longmont, Colorado. For years I told a perhaps-made-up-story about how she learned to tell her left from right by checking Left Hand bottle caps.

So this morning after I dropped her at high school I’m heading home and not far up the road I see a beer truck with a giant Left Hand logo on the back. Not something I ever thought I’d see driving along a street in St. Louis (Clayton in reality, but this way you don’t have to get out a map).

  1. I had a tasty Left Hand Milk Stout last night and I have another of their beers waiting in the fridge for tonight, but I don’t recall which one.

I’ve had 3 or 4 of their beers in the last few years and all have been quite good. The Milk Stout was on point. Glad it’s available here in NC in the craft brew stores…

  2. One of my favorite tees is a Left Hand I received as bribo for judging a home brew contest a few years back.

I still don’t know how you tell for sure whether it’s a left or right hand, though — I guess we’re to view it as a print? I always thought it could be Puddy asking for a high five. 😉

  3. I’ve seen them several times in Minneapolis. Despite their presence here in stores I had the same feeling you did.

  4. I had my first Left Hand Milk Stout this past summer in Brooklyn at a coffee shop across from the Barcade (craft beer and 80’s retro arcade games, cool concept). The coffee shop had a special where they blended a shot of espresso, and a shot of melted dark chocolate with a pint of the milk stout. I was so wired, yet so happy
