SirRon at The Ferm has announced the topic for Session #37, so we begin the fourth year of first Friday drinking with marching orders to write about “The Display Shelf: When to Drink the Good Stuff.”
The explanation:
“The topic is open ended and the rules of The Session are close to nil. You can use your post to be persuasive or therapeutic. You may choose to tell a story of a great bottle you once opened or boast of your own beer collection.”
I’ve been to the “cellar” (we live on sand, a basement is out of the question, so we forego romance, using a temperature-controlled chest freezer) and asked for volunteers.
Just cracked a couple of bottles of a simple ale made with A505 hops,,,dang were they super orange flavored!
Is there a 1998 Bigfoot down there in the right corner?
It’s “The Ferm,” but either way, I hope these posts encourage me to break out some of the stuff in my converted chest freezer and garage refrigerators. If anything, I’ll regain some space to put more “good stuff.”

Sam – There’s a second 2000 in that spot. I sort of favor verticals that go every other year or even every three years. So we should be thinking about 97-99-01-03, something like that. Then 00-02-04 etc. or 00-03-06. There are no rules.
