I am a big fan of the Marzen with smoked meat, I could die in guilty glee consuming this. I have, however, never been a fan of the more subltle Weizen offering. This article has inspired me to give it another look.
Cheers.

I have never seen the Lenten or Bock beers available in Australia, but I salivate at the thought, especially so with the Bock.

Kristen - Since it was December the Lenten beer wasn't on and we talked about it only in passing. Give Stephen Beaumont's contribution to the Session a look for more about the helles.

As you may know it is not sold on draft at the tavern. It was created as a less-expensive (no smoked malt) takeaway beer. I think affordable beer is considered a birth right in Franconia.
