Stephen -- In & Out Burger joints have been very popular in California for a long time.

http://www.in-n-out.com/history.asp note the uncanny resemblance to a certain other burger joint...

I think vitamin water has been on shelves a couple years now? Maybe Canada already vitamin packs their drinking water and it's not needed commercially? ;-)

I've never even heard of In-N-Out Burger or Vitamin Water, and only in the last few years or so became aware of Trader Joe's and American Apparel. And I dare say I travel the U.S. a lot more than many if not most Americans.

I did fly Jet Blue once, though, escaping NYC a week after 9/11. I thought it was quite good.

The "In and Out Store" is a euphamism for Ontario's Beer Store, the manufacturer's retail monopoly.

Yeah, In-n-Out always struck me as bad marketing for a restaurant, ye know?

I wasn't trying to call Jet Blue "dorky." Just harkening back to their recent flight cancellation debacles (though an '06 vintage on the list explains a lot).

Lew, don't go all PC on us now! ;-)

They seem a little West Coast to this Easterner. In-n-Out Burger, #4? I just saw my first one ever last weekend in Temecula. And trust Apple? Don't get me started.

Steve - the list was compiled in late 2006. Some of the brands on there seem a little 'dorky' - but apparently that can be an appeal.

Doesn't Jet Blue at number 3 throw the biggest red flag over that list? After Apple, of course! ;-)
