Bill Brand: DIP (Drink in Peace)

I have nothing wise to write about the random accident that stole Bill Brand from us. Instead I’m leaning on Robert Earl Keen.

I go out on a party
To look for a little fun
But I find a darkened corner
‘Cause I still miss someone

And with apologies for Steve Earle, I’ll add . . . Save some up there for me, maestro.

I, as well as countless others I’m sure, appreciate the sentiment and will miss Mr. Brand’s writings, but I’m afraid that is Johnny Cash you are quoting and not Robert Earl Keen.

Thanks, Jason, it cheers me to know I’ve got readers who’d make such a catch.

Lyrics Johnny Cash and Roy Cash Jr., though I cued up REK for the music itself.

Typed while listening to the Rosanne version of “I Still Miss Someone.”

Then you should be pleased that somebody liked the Maestro reference.

Bill was a bit of a mentor to me. He encouraged me to go out there and aim high when it came to the whole beer blogging thing. Today I was coming back from a tour and interview at Callistoga Inn. With no one to send a text message to, I found my darkened corner in the passenger seat of my wife’s car.

    I’ll miss you Bill.
