We were waiting for a tour of Brasserie Du Boq and were in the cafe down the street drinking Du Boq's Ambree. My wife is from a French town famous for it's red wine and goat cheese, she not a diehard beer fanatic but when she started eating a plate of Maredsous cheese with her beer she was sold. The rest of the trip she tried numerous beers and cheeses. When we went back to her village in France we took a carload of Belgian beer, sausages and cheeses and had a tasting/party with about 30 of her family members. Theyhad never considered beer as a match for cheese before but it went over very well. Of course when the beer was all gone we switched back to the red wine.
