The name:

Vinnie and Chenin's father planted the first wine grapes in the Temecula region (down near San Diego, and also where Vinnie founded Blind Pig).

Chenin's mother was pregnant with Chenin when she helped plant those vines. Picking a name was pretty easy.

You have managed to find a place in Greater Beervana I haven't visited. I am both pleased and alarmed by this fact (though there are scads of wineries I've missed--particularly beyond the Yamhill Valley). Hope you had a nice visit to our corner of the world.

Chenin? What a name for a vintner! Which came first, the name or the profession? I visited the website and was pleased to see they do serve a Chenin Blanc. Of course!

OK, I won't make you wait until the Brewers Games, so this way you can stop there if you want.

The picture was taken at Twist Wine Company, which is a little more than a mile from Pelican.

It is owned by Chenin and Sean Carlton, who live in Pacific City and make wine at a custom crush place between there and Portland. You might be more familiar with the work of Chenin's brother, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing.

Twist was the first place in Oregon to serve Pliny the Elder on tap.

Both Pelican and HUB sell their wines (surprisingly they don't make a Pinot) and Chenin and Sean are both mug club members at both brewpubs.

For those unfamiliar with Oregon's terrain, Portland is separated from the coast by a wide swath of some of the most fertile lands in the West, and the rolling hills in Yamhill County now produce pinot riches. So perhaps the clue--thinking of the wine bottle--lies twixt here and there?

Jeff - I may have to keep this open until after the Brewers Summer Games. You may just stumble upon the answer during your journey.

Now there's a hint . . .

Actually, no--and it's irritating. Now that I know you're in the NW, I figured I'd FINALLY get one of these right. And although I see the Hopworks and Pelican taps (more suggestive of locale than the Russian River, which is spreading its wings up and down the W coast), I can't make the ID. It's not especially characteristic of anyplace I recognize.
