#32 – Where in the beer world?

Do you think you know where in the beer world this photo was taken?
Please leave your answer as a comment.
The label on the beer is pretty easy to read, so that is probably enough of a hint. Just to be clear, this was taken in a public place — not in somebody’s kitchen or dining room.

Texas. You are drinking a Real Ale. Maybe Austin?

Boston? where else would you see what looks to be shellfish and beans on the same platter?

Threadgill’s in Austin, TX

Threadgill’s is a good guess, but I’m going with Iron Works BBQ in Austin, TX.

This is easy for Austin, Texas expatriate such as myself. The Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas is where you are. Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye is the beer.
Man, I do miss those ribs and that beer…

Yes, it is Salt Lick.
I posted the photo because Salt Lick is BYOB. Thus the bottlecaps on the table. I also had a photo of the six-pack on the table, but that wasn’t as good a picture.
Although Salt Lick is considered an Austin institution it’s located a few miles from the city, in Hays County. Which is mostly dry. The closest place to buy beer is Bubba’s seven miles away. Not a problem for regulars, it appears, because we saw members of larger parties toting in coolers.

Durn. I was a little too slow on the draw. Hope you picked up some of the Salt Lick BBQ sauce…
BTW: Real Ale is going to start releasing a casked version of the Rye.

Sauce is already packed in the RV. My brother-in-law, who we are visiting, will be in heaven when I tell him about the cask rye.

They have been doing casks of the Pale Rye every so often for years now, you just have be in the right place at the right time. They always have some at the Anniversary Party at the brewery in June. The cask version is usually dry hopped and very tasty.
